Summit in The Orchard – Manchester
We’re hosting our first ‘Summit in the Orchard’ a chance for our orchard leaders and orchard folk to network, feedback, share stories, learn, support each other and hear about how we can make this year’s Apple Day (21st October) the best Autumnal event in Greater Manchester.
There’s a whole day of activities planned, you don’t have to come to the whole day, although we hope many of you will. With the incentive of a picnic under the trees in the grounds of The Parrs Wood Rural Studies centre – one of Manchester’s best kept secret orchards – and also the chance to pitch for up to £400 to spend on equipment, publicty, or anything else that would see you and your group host an apple day event on or near 21st October.
Community orchard groups will have 5 minutes to convince the audience that they deserve a share of the £3000 on offer. The winning groups will be decided by audience vote on the day.
If you are interested in starting a community orchard come along to meet people already doing it and hear their ideas and experience, you are just as welcome.
In the afternoon we will be learning from experts with great ideas to make orchards and the city more fruitful.
Don’t leave early or perhaps join us for after work drinks. The Moss Cider Project cider bike will be pitched up ready to serve up some free cider and juice for delegates. So feel free to carry on conversation, chat and ideas.
